Blending classic jazz sophistication with soulful improvisation, The Alex Levin Trio delivers timeless sound with a modern edge. Led by pianist Alex Levin, the trio has earned a reputation as one of New York City’s premier jazz ensembles, celebrated for their elegant interpretations of the Great American Songbook and dynamic live performances.
A native of Philadelphia, Alex began his formal studies at The New School Jazz Program in the 1990s before graduating from Brown University. His early career took him to Berlin, where his quartet, The Living Room, performed across Europe. After returning to New York in 2001, Alex quickly became an in-demand solo pianist and bandleader, known for his lyricism, swing, and deep musicality.
Over the past two decades, Alex has released a string of critically acclaimed albums, including Night and Distance, A Reason for Being Alone, New York Portraits, and Refraction. His trio is currently preparing their latest album, A Sunday Kind of Love. Alongside the trio, Alex has also created other notable projects, including The Smoke Rings, a Brooklyn-based vintage swing band, and The Lovesome, a cool-jazz quartet.
The Alex Levin Trio performs regularly in New York, Philadelphia, and internationally, gracing stages at Top of the Rock, Top of the Standard, The W Hotel, Chelsea Piers, and Smalls Jazz Club, among others. Whether playing an intimate venue or a grand event, the Trio brings warmth, class, and a distinctly New York energy to every performance.
